Ramadan 1447H/2026: Remembering Our Brothers and Sisters in Gaza
As we enter Ramadan 2026, our hearts prepare for a month of reflection, mercy, discipline, and spiritual elevation. Ramadan is not just about fasting from food and drink — it is about softening the heart, strengthening faith, and expanding compassion beyond ourselves.
This year, as we stand in prayer, break our fast with our families, and seek the blessings of Laylatul Qadr, we must not forget our brothers and sisters in Gaza Strip.
Ramadan Is About Empathy
Allah commands us to fast so that we may attain taqwa (consciousness of Him). One of the wisdoms behind fasting is to feel hunger — to understand vulnerability — to remember those who experience hardship not by choice, but by circumstance.
For many families in Gaza, hardship is not temporary. It is daily. While we prepare our sahur with options on the table, some prepare with uncertainty. While we gather peacefully for tarawih, some pray under fear and instability.
Ramadan teaches us empathy — and empathy must lead to action.
Our Responsibility as One Ummah
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ reminded us that the Ummah is like one body — when one part suffers, the rest feels the pain. Gaza is not distant from us. It is part of our collective responsibility as Muslims.
Being far geographically does not mean being disconnected spiritually.
So what can we do this Ramadan?
1. Strengthen Our Du’a
Never underestimate sincere du’a. Raise their names in your tahajjud. Make du’a for protection, justice, patience, and victory. Teach your children to include Gaza in their nightly prayers.
2. Give Charity Intentionally
Channel your zakat and sadaqah to trusted humanitarian efforts supporting Palestinians. Even small amounts, given consistently, carry immense barakah.
3. Educate and Raise Awareness
Use your platforms — whether social media, business networks, or community circles — to remind others with wisdom and dignity. Speak with knowledge, not emotion alone.
4. Improve Ourselves
The strongest form of support is building a stronger Ummah. Improve your character. Strengthen your family. Build financial stability. Contribute positively to society. A strong Ummah uplifts its oppressed.
Ramadan Is Not Just Ritual — It Is Transformation
If our fasting does not increase our concern for the oppressed, we have missed the deeper purpose of Ramadan.
Let this Ramadan be different.
When you sit for iftar, pause for 10 seconds before eating — remember Gaza.
When you make du’a in sujud — mention them.
When you give charity — intend it for them.
And when Eid comes, pray that next Ramadan arrives with peace restored.
May Allah grant relief to the oppressed, patience to the suffering, justice to the wronged, and unity to this Ummah.
May this Ramadan soften our hearts and awaken our responsibility.
Ramadan Mubarak.
